Putting MedTalk on the National Stage

How FAZ Australia shaped the AI-in-healthcare governance conversation at Australia’s largest digital health event — and what it generated in return.

THE CHALLENGE

AI clinical documentation was moving fast in 2025–26, and so was the scrutiny around it. Clinicians, legal teams, and health system leaders were asking the same questions: Who is accountable when an AI scribe gets something wrong? How do you deploy responsibly at institutional scale? What does governance even look like?

For MedTalk, these weren’t just market questions — they were questions we had already built answers to through the ACT Health pilot. The challenge was getting those answers heard in the right rooms, by the right people, at a moment when the industry was forming its opinions.

WHAT WE DID

FAZ Australia participated in Digital Health Festival 2026 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on 20–21 May — both as an exhibitor and as a featured speaker. Atif Nisar, CEO and Founder of FAZ Australia and MedTalk, joined an executive panel titled:

“AI scribes are writing the clinical record: are we ready, or are we lost in translation?”

The panel brought together some of the most credible voices in Australian health AI governance:

  • Atif Nisar — Founder & CEO, MedTalk / FAZ Australia
  • Dr Owen Bradfield — Chief Medical Officer, MIPS
  • Aurélie Sheehan — Certification Policy & Development, NAATI (Chair)
  • Chelsea Gordon — Senior Associate, MinterEllison

The discussion covered clinical accountability, medico-legal risk, equitable AI deployment, and the governance frameworks health organisations need before going live with AI scribes. MedTalk’s position — built on real institutional deployment, not pilot promises — was a grounding force in the conversation.

Alongside the panel, MedTalk exhibited on the floor, running live demonstrations of the platform for clinicians and health system decision-makers attending the two-day event.

OUTCOMES

2,000+ Healthcare professionals reached across the two-day event
4 Senior co-panellists from legal, medical indemnity, and language services sectors

Beyond the numbers, DHF26 accomplished something harder to measure: it established MedTalk’s founder as a credible voice in the national conversation on AI governance in healthcare — not a vendor pitching a product, but a practitioner defending a position.

The panel generated independent coverage from NAATI and direct post-event engagement from health system stakeholders. Several attendees who saw the exhibition demo went on to enquire about institutional deployment. The event also reinforced MedTalk’s differentiation from the broader AI scribe market: governance-first, built for the Australian regulatory environment, with a live ACT Health deployment to point to.

“AI adoption in healthcare will only succeed through collaboration across clinicians, policymakers, legal experts, and technology leaders.”
